Staff Spotlight: Heidi Engleson
Every month we like to introduce one of our staff members so you can get to know them better. This month, Heidi, our Commercial Account Manager, told us about her philanthropic ambitions, her grocery bagging expertise, and a just-her-and-dad baseball excursion while vacationing at Disneyland.
You won the lottery! What’s your first purchase?
Not sure what would be first, but I’d definitely have the expected purchases (house, car, vacations, distribution to family). However, I would be most excited about how much money I could give away. My dream job has always been philanthropist and professional volunteer.
Share one thing you love to do that you always strive to include in your daily routine.
I like to start my day with a cup of coffee, devotional and time in prayer. It’s an extra bonus if the coffee happens to be a hazelnut latte.
What are some of your favorite hobbies or activities?
I love to read. I’m a huge mystery fan so a lot of who-dun-its have been solved in my leisure time. If it isn’t a mystery I am reading, it is most likely a biography as I am an admitted history nerd. I also enjoy service, travel, spending time with family and friends, movies, and some occasional therapeutic shopping.
Tell us about one of your most memorable experiences.
I’ll go back to childhood: one of my favorite memories is a family vacation to Disneyland. But what stands out isn’t the park (which is still one of my favorite places), but the fact that my dad and I ditched mom and the little sis. He took me to my first professional baseball game. I loved having the one-on-one time with him.
What is your favorite Biggs story?
Holidays at Biggs are always fun. The over-the-top decorations at Halloween and karaoke at Christmas are both something to behold.
Is your favorite season spring, summer, winter, or fall – and why?
I am fall person. I love the colors of the changing leaves and the crispness in the air. There is nothing quite like a fall hike in the Columbia Gorge.
What was your first job?
I was a courtesy clerk at a grocery store. To this day I am pro at bagging groceries. I didn’t know at the time I was learning a life-long skill 😊
