Staff Spotlight: Irish Acevedo
Every month we like to introduce one of our staff members so you can get to know them better. This month we spoke to Irish, an Account Associate in Employee Benefits – she told us about her photography endeavors, the baby shower her teammates threw her (featuring an ice cream bar! 😋), and a breathtaking memory of a boat tour in Puerta Vallarta.>
You won the lottery! What’s your first purchase?
I daydream about this all the time, like an unhealthy amount. I would buy land so I can build our family home for the kids to grow up in. I’m daydreaming about it now.
Share one thing you love to do that you always strive to include in your daily routine.
I absolutely need my Me time. It’s hard to get a moment where I’m by myself when my three kids are constantly needing something from me. Even if I get 20 minutes to mindlessly scroll through my phone or craft something real quick, I’m good for the day.
What are some of your favorite hobbies or activities?
I love crafting, photography, dancing, drawing and baking! Every Christmas, I like to make something special for my family and friends. I just got a Cricut so I’m pretty excited about all the possibilities of what I can make there. I used to be a portrait photographer two kids ago and want to start that back up as soon as possible.
Tell us about one of your most memorable experiences.
I love to travel! There have been so many special moments while traveling. The one that pops into my head at the moment is when my hubby and I traveled to Puerta Vallarta and we went on a boat tour to an island (can’t remember what island). On our way, they stopped the boat, turned off all the lights and we got to dance underneath the stars to Ed Sheeran’s song “Thinking Out Loud.” I can’t listen to that song without thinking of that moment. Super sappy, I know!
What is your favorite Biggs story?
I was hired last June and I thought it was super sweet when my coworkers threw a baby shower for me! They even remembered how much I love ice cream and had an ice cream setup with various toppings. If any of you are reading this, thank you and I would like more ice cream!
Is your favorite season spring, summer, winter, or fall – and why?
Hands down fall! I love all the fall scents, candles, that crisp cool air and the PNW is just beautiful during fall. I always think of that skit from SNL called “Sweater Weather.” I say it almost every time I put on a sweater during fall.
What was your first job?
When I was in high school, I went to lunch with a couple friends to Wendy’s and saw a sign that said they were hiring. I got interviewed after I inquired about the sign and got hired! I couldn’t wait for someone to ask me what I had done during lunch that day! Someone eventually did and I was able to say “oh you know, just got a job. No biggie.”
