Staff Spotlight: Megan Ferdig

Every month we like to introduce one of our staff members so you can get to know them better. This month we spoke to Megan, an Assistant Account Manager in Commercial Lines – she told us about her resolution to bake her way through an entire cookbook (GBBO fans, take note!), her flower-ful honeymoon in Victoria, and her love of singing.

You won the lottery! What’s your first purchase?

If I am being practical? Paying off my house. If practicality goes out the window? Plane tickets to Europe and touring EVERYTHING, especially the Tower of London in England and the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland.

Share one thing you love to do that you always strive to include in your daily routine.

Sing! My favorite thing to listen to when I cook or bake is musicals. Right now Hamilton is on repeat (which I am sure my family is thrilled about haha). But I also sing in the car. On my way home it is a way for me to decompress from the day.

What are some of your favorite hobbies or activities?

Reading, going to musicals and concerts, and baking. I am currently on a mission to bake EVERY recipe in one of my Great British Baking Show cookbooks. The first recipe was a 3 tiered hot chocolate cake. My presentation needs some work, but it was tasty!

Tell us about one of your most memorable experiences.

My honeymoon to Victoria, BC. I love flowers and we went to Butchart Gardens and I could not get enough. It was stunning. I could have spent the whole vacation there. We also saw huge estates and one of them had preserved copies of ladies’ dance cards from parties. My Jane Austen loving heart was enamored with the whole thing.

What is your favorite Biggs story?

The Humane Society Walk. It was neat to see everyone doing something for a good cause with all of their puppies! My dog just didn’t know what to do with himself and all of the new things to sniff and free treats he was given.

Is your favorite season spring, summer, winter, or fall – and why?

Definitely fall. The colors are so vibrant and beautiful. Plus all of the hoodies and scarves come out and storms start happening!

If you had a superpower, what would it be?

The ability to breathe underwater. I love to be in the water so I would definitely spend some time exploring the ocean hanging out with seat turtles and whales.
