Staff Spotlight: Ross Armstrong
Every month, we like to introduce you to one of our incredible staff. This month, Commercial Agent Ross Armstrong opens up about the time he met Seahawks SS Kam Chancellor!
You won the lottery! What’s your first purchase?
My first purchase after winning the lottery would be setting up my family. As typical as it sounds, I’ve thought about it before and my first “purchase” would be squaring my family away. For everything they’ve given and provided for me, it’s a no-brainer to me to make sure they would be taken care first.
Share one thing you love to do that you always strive to include in your daily routine.
One thing that I always try to include in my daily routine is have some form of personal time. Whether it is getting ready or driving or trying a new place to eat, I always try to find some point in my day where I let my mind wonder and reflect. It helps me appreciate things more as well as prioritize the rest of my day.
What are some of your favorite hobbies or activities?
My favorite activity is to play basketball. Ever since I was a kid, I felt a connection to the sport as well as a strong understanding for how the game should be played. Playing basketball is the one thing in my life where I can completely separate and forget about whatever else is going on. I just focus on the game and love it.
Tell us about one of your most memorable experiences.
I met Kam Chancellor in a Safeway in the greater Seattle area. Being a lifelong Seahawks fan, I recognized him instantly while no one else had. I could tell he appreciated me saying hi and striking up a genuine conversation. Later as I was checking out, his buddy came up and told me Kam actually stayed behind to take a picture with me before he left. He was so genuine and willing to make my day. It was a surreal experience!
What is your favorite Biggs story?
My favorite Biggs story is probably just getting hired. I’ve only been here a couple months, but I was very excited to start and it has been a great experience so far!
Is your favorite season spring, summer, winter, or fall – and why?
My favorite season would be fall. In the PNW, you get some amazing weather that time of year. The air gets cool and crisp and fall leads into the holiday season. Also, all the major sports are going on for a brief amount of time. Mainly for me, football is in full swing and basketball season is starting.
What was your first job?
My first job was as an intramural ref at UW (Go Huskies!). I started refereeing flag football and basketball and still ref basketball from time to time.
If you had a superpower, what would it be?
If I had one superpower, I think I would want to be able to fly. The other ones that I hear all the time are invisibility and mind-reading, but I think you would end up knowing way too much about people – more than you need to.
